I haven't used that theme but I see that around line 1307 in the CSS file is what determines the margins around the image. My suggestion would be something like:
.post-image {
border: 0 none;
margin: 0 10px 10px -40px !important;
max-width: none !important;
padding: 0;}
but you can experiment yourself.

Thanks for your help in this matter.
Although the problem was not caused by any of the above, you prompted me to check all the plugins and widgets thoroughly.
I found that, during the early experimental phase, I had placed a text widget in the Home - Call to Action sidebar which didn't work but I left it there and forgot about it.
Now when I removed this text widget the posts are back on the News page! Why this should be the case I don't know but it works. So, problem solved without knowing why.

I had already changed the number of post sto show to 3 and now I tried 5 - not successful.
I am now going to try disabling the plugins.

The news page was already set to "Blog" template. I have since deleted the News page and created a new page with a new name and set that as the blog page but the result is the same - no posts appearing.
Strangely, on the Edit page if I go to "Preview changes" the posts show up but when I go to "Wiew Page" - nothing!

The problem seems to be that the Home widget and the widgets CLICK HERE TO SPEAK WITH US NOW and GET A FREE CALL BACK are all contained within one DIV called 'home-top'.
So the height of 'home-top' is determined by the height of those two widgets on the right.
The solution would seem to involve either put in more text to fill the space (easy) or change the page structure (not so easy).

EM DzineeamonmoriartyParticipantThanks The problem seems to have been caused by another plugin 'Widget Controller' which works OK with other widgets but not with The Events Calendar.

EM DzineeamonmoriartyParticipantIt seems to me that the theme is (somewhat) responsive. The top menu seems responsive and as well as the sidebar, the bottom widgets also stack vertically in narrower browsers.
Eamon Moriarty
EM DzineeamonmoriartyParticipantI think it is simply that your full width page is shorter, not requiring a scrollbar whereas your other pages have a scrollbar. The shift to the right is the width of the scrollbar.

I can't vouch for it as I haven't tried it but you may want to check it out.
