Lynne emasai.comemasaiParticipantIt is standard practice to have the logo link back to the homepage, so that you don't waste space in the navigation putting in a homepage link.
However if you want to make it unclickable, as you did not provide a link I cannot tell you exactly how. At the moment your logo is probably in site-title a or title-area a, the a tag makes it clickable.

You still have the imported XML files which are showing the sidebar by default on all pages. You will need to add a plugin like Dynamic widgets, Widget Logic or Simple sidebars to be able to control the content which appears in the sidebars according to the page you are visiting.

Lynne emasai.comemasaiParticipantYou can do lots of things, start by adding a web inspector to your favourite browser then you can discover the element that needs to be changed.
This forum is voluntary, so you will only get answers to specific questions (and sometimes not, depending on how technical the question is) and it is best practice to provide a link to your site.

Lynne emasai.comemasaiParticipantYou are mixing up a lot of things. You have a background image on a li tag and the hover state (which is almost white) on an a tag. So the a tag is doing its job and displaying a white background on hover.
