I’ve installed Genesis Simple Edits but it’s not showing up there Brad. And I use the same Genesis Core files for all the sites I maintain and it’s never shown up before. I’ve checked the child functions.php and it’s not there either. I’ve looked everywhere I can and can’t find reference to it at all. And yet it’s there on the website in the page source code showing up under the footer div wrap. I’ll disable all the plugins and re-enable to see if I can find it there. I do have a Twitter plugin but didn’t think that was producing it as it has a different name.
Ok, thanks for that. Yes, I’m learning a lot too. Still haven’t got that part sorted yet but have been able to do a number of other things.
There must be a way of doing a shortcode for posts on a category page without it affecting the blog page. Cheers.
Is your site live? Might be easier to see the site and go from there.
Are you wanting to edit the text only for the navigation and not anywhere else? I use Outreach on a couple of sites I’ve done. If you look for line 261 in your css file which is menu-primary and look a bit further down you’ll see the font size there. The fonts list is in the Defaults section starting at line 68.
Hope that helps?
I’ve done all that Vivek. But if I change the settings for the blog template it then changes my blog page too. I don’t want both to be the same. I want the archive to be in excerpts and my blog page to be full posts.
Lorin, where did you edit the post_info part? I’ve checked my css and can’t find it in there. Was hoping to remove that too. Did you find that the intro text has a different background colour to the rest of your theme? Mine is. http://dandenong-ranges-photography.com.au/category/photography-jobs/ Was hoping to have more than 3 posts showing too. Might have to read up more on that.
Perhaps you need to share what theme you are also using? Is it mobile responsive or one that isn’t?
Generally the font size and type of text can be edited in the css style sheet of the theme you are using – the child theme, that is.
Found the problem. Nick responded overnight (my time) and suggested I deactivate all my plugins and put them back on a few at a time. I reset the theme and individual page layout and checked the site. It all was how I wanted it. So then I put on a few at a time and it was working fine, right till the very last plugin and then it went awry again.
It is a plugin I was using for a previous theme and don’t need for this one so will delete it but have notified Nick and will contact the plugin developer to let them know too, as it looks like there must be an incompatibility between the two. It’s probably rare and unlikely that anyone would be using the same plugin on this theme I expect as they wouldn’t be installing the plugin to use on this theme.
Thanks again, both of you for your assistance in helping me and I appreciate Nick’s time too.
Thanks, both of you. Do you think this is a theme issue or a WordPress issue?
I had thought that with fresh new responses this thread would show up as something that was continuing which is how most forums work. Well, the ones I hang around anyway. Unless designers are only specifically looking at threads that have no responses?
Because it’s not obvious where to find the threads with no replies (unless you look in the FAQ section) I expect many here wouldn’t know where those threads are? Unless you mean most designers?
At any rate, I appreciate your responses and hope that someone comes up with an answer. I have been in touch with Nick from support as well since I couldn’t find an answer here yesterday and he is looking for ideas on what could be causing it.
Yes, I did put it as instructed. Thank you, I appreciate you researching it. I have been too. I was also told about a Flickr plugin that might work but that produced an error code when activating it. I guess I’ll have to do the manual thing and upload for a featured image – a smaller version so that I’m not adding too much to the hosted space. Thanks for your efforts, I do appreciate them.
If WordPress still had the function for making the image a feature in the window when I view the image it might have worked, but it no longer appears to be there.
Sorry, back again. I have inserted that code into my function.php as directed. And I’ve now added a new blog post with 3 images that are inserted via the url address. However, none are showing up as a thumbnail on the home page and when I go to the featured image portion in Add Media there isn’t anywhere to add a URL for an image.
Perhaps I’m misunderstanding what is supposed to be happening here Brad?
