Hi, I'm Madison, a mom of three awesome kids. My story. It all began for me 10 years ago when my girl turned 5. She started to have sneezing and coughing fits that would keep her up all night, and problems with shortness of breath when she was playing indoors. Our GP ran a couple of tests and told us she didn't think my daughter had asthma, but that she was allergic to pet dander. Which was frankly a great relief, because my dad has severe asthma. We decided to find another home for our two cats, but couldn't bring ourselves to it, as our kids were heartbroken. My daughter especially, she thought it was her fault, no matter how hard we tried to explain it wasn't. So we decided to look for other solutions. We took extra measures to keep the cat out of her bedroom, and cleaned the house more frequent and more vigorously. Her allergy kept coming up a lot though, and the night waking persevered as well. My dad actually suggested air purifiers. He had used one for years, until he moved to the mountains in Spain, and the air quality there deemed them unnecessary. He knew however that certain air purifiers were used to eliminate pet dander and odor. We started out with the cheapest one we could find, and after a month discovered it did not help one bit. After more thorough review reading, we decided on the Austin Air Pet Machine, which after only a couple of weeks started to gave amazing results. My daughter did no longer have nights of waking up coughing, and was sneezing a whole lot less. After 6 weeks she seemed almost allergy free, except if she cuddled with her favorite cat. It's not an ideal situation, but she now knew what the consequences were, and if she was symptom free most of the times, we were fine with it too. During our research, we learned that there are many different air cleaners, all based on different kinds of theories about purifying the air. They are also many different technologies these purification systems use, and it can be daunting to find the right one. Especially considering it might take a while for results to become apparent.
