At Nicks suggestion i installed the Genesis Featured Widget Amplified Plugin. I had installed "date boxes" to style the Post info, but the featured category at the top of the blog wasnt showing the new date box in the right place. I installed Nick's plugin, but now I seem to have eliminated the date box from that featured area altogether.
Please help?! I'll furnish you whatever info you require.
Thanks for your help,
Jay
November 20, 2012 at 8:20 pm #1028nickthegeekMemberLooks like you added "[post_info]" as your short code. This isn't actually a short code. You will need to add the actual markup that is in the post info to the output.
November 21, 2012 at 9:09 am #1122njcooneyMemberSorry Nick, I dont understand. Can you please tell me specifically what to add, and where?
November 21, 2012 at 10:00 am #1125nickthegeekMemberIn the widget settings. You have [post_info] for the post info field. This is not a valid short code. Add the code you are using to create your date format. I don't have the exact code because I don't know what code you are adding.
November 21, 2012 at 11:12 am #1149njcooneyMemberThanks Nick, I appreciate the ongoing help.
How would I find the code that I need to put in the place of [post_info] ? Is it somehow denoted in the functions.php file? Right now the date box is showing up fine for the other posts in the home feed, just not in your widget.this is the code in functions.php:
/**
* Customize Post Date format and add extra markup for CSS targeting.
*
* @author Gary Jones
* @link http://code.garyjones.co.uk/style-post-info/
*
* @param string $output Current HTML markup.
* @param array $atts Attributes.
*
* @return string HTML markup.
*/
function child_post_date_shortcode( $output, $atts ) {return sprintf(
'%1$s%2$s %3$s',
$atts['label'],
get_the_time( 'j' ),
get_the_time( 'M' ),
get_the_time( 'Y-m-d\TH:i:sO' )
);
}
and this is the CSS:
.post-info {
font-family: Arial, sans-serif;
font-size: 8px;
margin: 0 0 5px;
padding: 1px 0 5px 48px;
}
.post-info .time,
.post-info .time span {
color: #fff;
display: block;
text-align: center;
width: 42px;
}
.post-info .time {
left: 10px;
position: absolute;
top: 10px;
}
.post-info .day {
background: #cbb28c;
font-size: 20px;
height: 18px;
line-height: 1em;
padding-top: 2px;
padding-bottom: 2px;
margin-left:5px;
}
.post-info .month {
background: #e2cdad;
height: 10px;
line-height: 1.33333;
text-transform: uppercase;
padding-top: 2px;
padding-bottom: 2px;
margin-left:5px;
}#content .post {
position: relative;
}
#content .post h1 {
margin-left: 48px;
}
#content .post h2 {
font-size: 18px;
margin: 10px 10px 0 48px;
}
.hentry {
position: relative;}

November 29, 2012 at 9:24 pm #2452nickthegeekMemberhow are you editing the post info for your posts?
November 30, 2012 at 2:05 pm #2610njcooneyMemberI'm sorry Nick, I don't understand this question. Do you mean how am I formatting it? I included the code above that I am using in the functions.php and style.css files... is there more that you need?
November 30, 2012 at 6:58 pm #2700nickthegeekMemberok I see what oyu have, the code was messed up a bit from what you posted.
You need to use shortcode in the widget. [post_info] is not valid shortcode. Here is the Genesis shortcode reference.
