Hi everybody, I upgraded my wordpress site to genesis/studiopress with design palette pro and using the "lifestyle pro" theme...
Suffice it to say: My forte is NOT web design. It never was and I feel it still isn't even after running this website for over 6 years.
I used to run it as a "magazine" style/theme blog, but I don't update it as regularly now that I post more YouTube videos and I need to move away from such a style.
Nowadays, I have over 800 blog posts now that I need "index" to make it easy for people to find the information. What is the best way to do that? I'm so out of touch with web design that I didn't even realize how atrocious it is to navigate the INFORMATION within my site until a user made the recommendation 3 weeks ago on my subreddit.
They basically say "There's no central page with links to everything. Instead there are pages like this that group blog posts by category, dumping the whole posts one after another. Or there are links to individual posts scattered around the site. It would be so good if there was a "Blog" menu item in the top menu, that leads to a page with the different categories on it, and links under each category ordered by a logical order rather by date (especially the nutrition posts, which go from basic intros to intricate details)."
Now my question is... what is the best way to start updating my website? I'm thinking I should just just have the home-page be links to a few major index pages... I'm guessing it's best to create those indexes manually... Or.. do I look for a plugin that could help me make "index" pages easily? Or should I manually create blog post "series"? Also, what do I do with the category links or the breadcrumbs...? Sorry for all the lame questions in advance. I also am using "huzzaz" plugin to make it somewhat easier to make my homepage show my latest youtube videos (which I have to update manually)... if there is a better option than that, I am ALL EARS.

Wow... 800 posts! It's going to be no easy task to organize all of them. I definitely recommend that you create a blog page showing excerpts of all posts in chronological order, and then group them according to parent and child categories for easy search-ability. Your most popular categories/posts/videos should also be displayed on the front of your page too, making it real easy for visitors to find your best content.
I'd also recommend switching to the eleven40 Pro theme, as it is specifically made for displaying a lot of content at once. Whew... not trying to overwhelm you but I can see many changes that would improve your site. If you're interested in hiring someone to help you with this, we can chat about that too!

But, I definitely need some help in overall marketing and integrating youtube videos with blog posts and all that jazz. This stuff isn't really overwhelming as much as there's a bunch of little tedious things to do, which isn't a big deal, but in the big picture, it totally is when you're not sure of what's the best thing to do.
I need someone who has a firm grasp at not just design but also of marketing, not just web design. Can you help with that as well? Can you email me at [email protected] ?
