Thanks a lot. That explains it.
I got so annoyed by how the header and primary navigation works that I just deleted both completely and only use secondary navigation 🙂
Fitness BloggerMemberHi Tom,
Thanks for the answer. The reason why the site looks a little strange is that I couldn't make the Featured Post work correctly with just the standard Magazine Pro widgets (and because I am a complete WordPress newb..).
- When I try to use the widgets that come with Magazine Pro (home-top, home-middle, home-bottom), they override all the static content on the page.
- When I use the OTW manager to place the Genesis Featured post on the page, it doesn't show the headlines properly. Instead of being a bar, the headline just shows up as plain text. That's why I have customized Header 6 to look like a bar as an easy workaround. (the post also look a little different from what it would if I used "Home-Bottom" but that's now a big deal.
- The picture “Test-front-page-image.jpg” is just inserted directly on the page with the "add media function.
What I really want is for the page to have:
1. The picture on top as it is now
2. "The Latest Posts From TheFitBlog" in the format that the Magazine Pro theme would make if I just used the "Home-Bottom widget - Basically with the header bar and 2 posts side by side (as it is at the bottom of the page right now (I also don't know how to make OTW inserts side by side widgets anywhere except the bottom of a page...).
3. The latest videos as they are now.If you can come up with a better solution to create this I would be eternally grateful. I have just about exhausted my meager WordPress skills by now...
Fitness BloggerMemberWow really?
I am ok with the sidebar moving down I guess, to make the main content easier to read, but I would prefer the header widget to re-size. Think I will just solve it by changing the entire header to one picture with the Genesis Responsive Slider so it can re-size 🙂
Thanks a lot for the help.
Fitness BloggerMemberHi Andrea,
Thanks a lot!
I think that technically fixed the issue. However, the Magazine Pro theme handles responsiveness on any size smaller than iPad horizontal so badly (in my opinion) that it still looks quite bad (it moves the header into 2 lines - 1 for logo and 1 for right widget - instead of re-sizing the image in the widget). It also moves the right sidebar under the main content instead of re-sizing.
Do you know how difficult it is to fix the responsiveness issues? I would be willing to pay for the service through Nuts and Bolts if it's just a small fix.
Fitness BloggerMemberI managed to change site-inner so everything is white. However, it looks quite bad. I was hoping to be able to create some visual separation between the different elements on the site by having a gray background and white boxes for each element (so there would be a thin grey line between the content area and the sidebar). Do you think that is possible or is the entire inner area one large element?
Fitness BloggerMemberThanks a lot Lauren!
That changed the background, header and footer but not the main content area. Do you know where I should look to change the rest?
(actually the footer shouldn't change preferably)
Fitness BloggerMemberThanks,
When I just delete the 100% width, the sidebar stays at 250px as it's supposed to. However, it still moves down below the main content because the main content doesn't adjust in size to allow for the sidebar. I am not sure what you mean by "adding them back in"?As you can probably tell, I know nothing about coding, so any detailed help you can give is super appreciated :-). I am just mucking about trying to make it look decent. I should probably have gotten a theme that wasn't responsive...
Fitness BloggerMemberThanks.
The problem is that when I try to change the width (say to 50%) the content and sidebar will be side-by-side as they should be, but the sidebar will take up all the space. I have set the sidebar width to 250px everywhere I can find it, but it keeps jumping back up to 360px when viewed on the iPad. I think I may need some way to always set the sidebar to always be 250px (that will make the site unwatchable on a mobile phone I think but I don't really care about that). Can you help me?December 23, 2013 at 2:36 am in reply to: How do I change the width of the right sidebar in the Magazine Pro theme #80855Fitness BloggerMemberThanks Jeremy,
That worked. Now I just need to also make the site look decent on an iPad (I have started a new support item)
