Perfect, thanks John! I've installed it, set up a few things and already like what it does for me.
Much appreciated.
JayMemberFigured it out! Very proud cuz this is all new to me.
Went into functions.php, added image size as follows:
add_image_size( 'featured' , 600, 200, TRUE );
Went into home.php and adjusted feature_image_size from '0' to 'featured'; reuploaded the image, and voila! Mission accomplished.
January 26, 2013 at 4:51 pm in reply to: Adding Ellipsis to All Posts/Recent Posts on Balance, Pt II #15154JayMemberJayMemberAs far as just selecting "featured image" in the featured post itself, I tried that to no avail. The image still would not display.
But I did find the fix... Or, almost, anyways.
I was messing around in home.php and the "feature_image_size" was set to "0". I plugged in 'grid' and sure enough the feature image shows up for the feature post, but in the grid size (as expected). Now I need help figuring out how to make the image size proportionally bigger, but maintaining a rectangle like the grid images so it looks consistent.
Not sure what language I need to put in there for that to happen...
JayMemberThanks Dorian, the reading setting that you pointed me to did indeed update the home page so as to only reflect 7 total posts, exactly as I had been looking to do.
As far as the featured post goes, I didn't articulate well what it is I mean. It is the latest post which gets featured, and I like that; I'm not looking to change that.
What I am having difficulty understanding is how to get the latest post to have an image pulled from within it automatically and displayed as the featured image, above the excerpt that shows on the front page. The non-featured posts below it on the home page do this automatically. For example, the post titled "Another test post to see layout" has an image in the middle of the post, but on the homepage the image has been pulled and is displayed above the excerpt of the post. I'd like for this to also happen for the latest post, but that doesn't happen.
If that makes sense... ?
