Sridhar KatakamParticipant
For some reason now, something affected the responsiveness and it throwing off the page.
Yes, I wrote in the first post:
"Note that site will get messy as your lower the width from desktop setting and hence you need to further write needed media queries."
I think you should create a ticket about this as it seems to be a basic functionality of being able to set a logo that you are trying to do here.
Sridhar KatakamParticipantFirebug shows http://cl.ly/image/0o3J2l1N0x17
Is that something you have added? the 'center' and '!important' especially, as marked.
Sridhar KatakamParticipantAdd this in functions.php: http://pastebin.com/S7zPkELU
and this in style.css:
/********************************************* Fixed Header *********************************************/ #header.fix { position: fixed; top: 0; left: 0; z-index: 1000; width: 100%; max-width: 100%; /*padding-top: 0; padding-bottom: 0;*/ overflow: visible; background: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.92); } .admin-bar #header.fix { top: 28px; }
That's it!
Sridhar KatakamParticipantNice to see you again Alex.
Until someone else gives a proper solution, you can use the following workaround. Note that site will get messy as your lower the width from desktop setting and hence you need to further write needed media queries.
Go to Appearance -> Header and remove the image.
Then use this CSS:
.header-image #title a { background: url('http://www.christianbusinessacademy.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/Christian-Business-Academy-Logo-S2.png') no-repeat; } .header-image #title-area, .header-image #title, .header-image #title a { width: 497px; } #header .widget-area { width: 643px; }
Sridhar KatakamParticipantUse this CSS:
.genesis-grid-even, .genesis-grid-odd { background: #FFFFFF; padding: 1em; width: 42%; -webkit-box-shadow: 1px 1px 3px rgba(0,0,0,0.2); -moz-box-shadow: 1px 1px 3px rgba(0,0,0,0.2); box-shadow: 1px 1px 3px rgba(0,0,0,0.2); }

In the meta box that appears in Posts and Pages edit screen? If so, no.
However, if the PHP code and div wrappers are the same for all Posts/Pages, then we can place them in another location from where meta box's value is retrieved and used.
That’s exactly what I want, however, it must be optional. If a post doesn’t have video such as a regular blog post, I don’t want the non-video page to have a blank area. ...
It works the way you want. If a Page or Post does not have any value entered in the 'Vimeo Video' meta box, then that Page or Post will show nothing, not even blank space or magin/padding.
I shall write a tutorial on this in my blog and give a link soon.

See these screenshots and let me know if this is what you want:

Sridhar KatakamParticipantTo turn off background flashing,
In child theme's functions.php, comment out
add_theme_support( 'custom-background', array( 'wp-head-callback' => '__return_false' ) );
and
add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'metro_enqueue_scripts' );
Then use this sample CSS:
body { background: url('images/body-bkgrd.jpg') no-repeat center center fixed; -webkit-background-size: cover; -moz-background-size: cover; -o-background-size: cover; background-size: cover; }
Sridhar KatakamParticipantSridhar KatakamParticipantAdding
#title-area { background: url('http://www.pineblossomswebsites.com/tbc/wp-content/themes/outreach/images/Trinity-Baptist-Church-logo-med.png') no-repeat; } #header { /*background: none;*/ height: 178px; } #title { text-indent: -9999em; line-height: 3; } #title a { display: block; } @media only screen and (max-width: 1200px) { #title-area { width: 375px; } #title-area { min-height: 200px; } #header .widget-area { width: 250px; } } @media only screen and (max-width: 1023px) { #header .widget-area { width: 100%; } }
at the end of unmodified Outreach theme's style.css should result in http://cl.ly/image/2A1j012T0I0B
Sridhar KatakamParticipant.home .hentry img {
display: none;
}will get rid of all images within body (content) of Posts on the hompage.
Sridhar KatakamParticipantAt Appearance -> Menus, select the custom menu that you would like to appear on a specific Page in 'Primary Navigation Menu' location.
Method 1
Add the following at the end of child theme's functions.php:
/** display primary menu only on chosen page **/
add_action('template_redirect', 'child_conditional_actions');
function child_conditional_actions() {
if ( !is_page( 146 ) )
remove_action('genesis_after_header', 'genesis_do_nav');
}change 146 to ID of Page on which you would like the Primary nav menu to appear.
Source: http://victorfont.com/conditional-secondary-menus-genesis-themes/
Method 2
Add the following at the end of child theme's style.css (WP dashboard -> Appearance -> Editor):
#nav {
display: none;
}.page-id-146 #nav {
display: block;
}
change 146 to ID of Page on which you would like the Primary nav menu to appear.
Sridhar KatakamParticipantEdit child theme's home.php.
Change
'feature_content_limit' => 0,
to, for example,
'feature_content_limit' => 500,
Sridhar KatakamParticipant1) (Not mandatory, but will make this easy) Install and activate Genesis Simple Hooks plugin.
2) Go to Genesis -> Simple Hooks -> genesis_after_post_content Hook (Reference)
Enter
<?php if(is_single() && in_category( 'Cat A' )) { ?> <div id="my-custom-div">Hello hello.</div> <?php } ?>
Change 'Cat A' to the name of your desired category and the div's content of course.
Tick 'Execute PHP on this hook?'.
Sridhar KatakamParticipant1) Install and activate Simple Sidebars plugin.
Go to Genesis -> Simple Sidebars and create two sidebars.
Ex.: http://cl.ly/image/0E32011v2v2D
2) Edit child themes home.php. Before
<?php get_footer(); ?>
, add the following:
<div id="my-home-bottom"> <div class="my-home-bottom-left"> <div class="wrap"> <?php if (!dynamic_sidebar('My Home Bottom Left')) : ?> <div class="widget"> <h4><?php _e("My Home Bottom Left Widget", 'genesis'); ?></h4> <p><?php _e("This is a widgeted area which is called My Home Bottom Left. To get started, log into your WordPress dashboard, and then go to the Appearance > Widgets screen. There you can drag any widget of your choice into the My Home Bottom Left widget area on the right hand side.", 'genesis'); ?></p> </div><!-- end .widget --> <?php endif; ?> </div><!-- end .wrap --> </div><!-- end .my-home-bottom-1 --> <div class="my-home-bottom-right"> <div class="wrap"> <?php if (!dynamic_sidebar('My Home Bottom Right')) : ?> <div class="widget"> <h4><?php _e("My Home Bottom Right Widget", 'genesis'); ?></h4> <p><?php _e("This is a widgeted area which is called My Home Bottom Right. To get started, log into your WordPress dashboard, and then go to the Appearance > Widgets screen. There you can drag any widget of your choice into the My Home Bottom Right widget area on the right hand side.", 'genesis'); ?></p> </div><!-- end .widget --> <?php endif; ?> </div><!-- end .wrap --> </div><!-- end .home-bottom-2 --> </div><!-- end #my-home-bottom -->
3) Add the following at the end of child theme's style.css (WP dashboard -> Appearance -> Editor):
#my-home-bottom { clear: both; } #my-home-bottom .my-home-bottom-left { float: left; border-right: 1px solid #DBDEE4; margin: 0 20px 0 0; width: 636px; } #my-home-bottom .my-home-bottom-right { float: right; width: 303px; }
Sridhar KatakamParticipantaah, ok.
Try the "#home-featured .widget-area h4" selector.
Ex.:
#home-featured .widget-area h4 {
font-size: 20px;
font-style: italic;
}
Sridhar KatakamParticipantJust adding style rues at the end of your stylesheet to override an existing style rule in the same sheet isn’t a good practice. It will make it more difficult to maintain the stylesheet.
That is news to me. I would appreciate if you can share any URLs that discuss this topic.
Placing custom CSS code at end of child theme's style.css will have the following benefits, in my opinion:
All your changes are at one place rather then at different places in the stylesheet. Tomorrow if something is not working as expected, you simply delete or comment out the custom CSS added at the end, i.e., essentially restore style.css back to how it was originally quickly, and narrow down the problem causing rules.
It will be easy for someone else helping you to see at a glance what changes have been done so they can help you faster.
Sridhar KatakamParticipantSunil,
Unless otherwise mentioned, you don't have to delete existing CSS code. If two different values are entered for the same selector the one that appears latter in the file will be used. Browsers parse stylesheets from top to bottom.
