I installed the Genesis Connect for WooCommerce plugin, then added this code to the child theme's functions.php:
http://www.bea-education.org/shop
add_theme_support( 'genesis-connect-woocommerce' );
After which my site went down ( every screen blank!). I had to use the file manager on the server to delete the added code to get the site back. The products page looks terrible. Any ideas on how to get education theme to use woocommerce?

I've stumbled onto a sideline of fixing messed up Woo theme and plugin set-ups. 🙂 I have "cured" Woo in a couple Genesis themes, but not in Education.I tried the add_theme statement above in my Education theme, and it didn't balk at all, even though I don't have Woo Commerce installed. A couple things to check....
Maybe you inadvertently made a typo? That's very easy to do in a functions.php file, and has strong consequences.
I noticed you have Education version 1. I have version 2, so I suppose it's possible that it's not compatible with Education 1.0, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Last thing: the latest version of the Connect plugin purportedly supports Woo Commerce 2.0. If you don't have the latest version, that could be it.
Good luck,
Dave

June 29, 2013 at 7:24 pm #48441vikingMemberI put the code right below the title of the page in the functions.php file and it worked for me.
June 29, 2013 at 9:33 pm #48469miked51MemberThanks David and Viking.
I've tried all the suggestions but still getting the same result ( blank screens)
I wonder if its due to the fact I'm using version one of the Education theme ( which I really like,) but it doesn't seem to be updated anymore. Maybe I did something wrong when I pasted in the code, but I've done this three times with the same 'bad' result. One of the frustrations of using some Genesis themes is that they drop updates for certain themes. I've sent in a support ticket, so hopefully I'll know one way or the other.June 30, 2013 at 8:14 am #48533David ChuParticipantMike,
If you are the buyer of Education, you can just download version 2 from your user area. It won't show up for auto update - they don't do that with their commercial themes. And of course, the usual caveats about backing up first and so on if anything was modified in your theme.Still, putting in that line is such a routine procedure that there must be something happening that's messing it up that we can't see.
Good luck, Dave

June 30, 2013 at 9:00 am #48545miked51MemberThanks Guys
Problem resolved thankfully.Okay, here goes.
I had a quick response from Jennifer at customer support:
It looks like you're using directional quotes.
add_theme_support( ‘genesis-connect-woocommerce’ );
Should look like
add_theme_support( 'genesis-connect-woocommerce' );
...............and it worked
The Instructions given at: http://www.studiopress.com/plugins/genesis-connect-woocommerce
4) Add this code to your Genesis child theme’s functions.php file: add_theme_support( ‘genesis-connect-woocommerce’ );
are incorrect as the code contains directional quotes.Again thanks for all your support
Regards
Michael DJuly 2, 2013 at 5:15 am #48800miked51MemberI noticed that when I submitted the correct code (it was ok in notepad) it changed to directional quotes. So, with this with editor it appears that you cant send the correct code format!

July 3, 2013 at 10:29 am #49001devParticipantI got this with the Agency theme a few days ago. One of the following will work... or a combo of them:
- log out of admin and back in again
- deactivate Woo and re-activate
- deactivate Connect and re-activate
Let us know what happens.
