My guess is that it has something to do with the following CSS on line 1251:
.mpp-home .content .featuredpost .entry:nth-of-type(3n+1) {
clear: left;
}If you're adding a 4th one across, that really should be changed to 4n+1, because it's trying to clear the column after 3 currently.

There's really no "how to use it" that goes along, since it's merely showing you the alignment that is built into the new style sheet. Make sense?
